電話をかける、電話に出たときに使える英語

電話は相手が見えない会話。雰囲気では通じないので明確な発音が大事ですね。電話に出るとき日本語では「もしもし」というように、英語でも定番の英会話フレーズがあるので、これを知っていれば大丈夫。また携帯電話はアメリカとイギリスで少し表現が違うので注意！

電話では、自分を指すときも、相手を指すときもthisです。これは、声が自分のそばで聞こえるからだという説があります。電話特有のおもしろい英語表現です。

＜１＞電話をかけるときの英語表現（ビジネスで、プライベートで）
・Hello. Is this Mr.Smiths'？（もしもし、スミスさんのお宅ですか？） ）
　＊「the ●●s'」（名前の複数形＋'）で、●●家／●●宅という意味
・Can I speak to Jane, please？（ジェーンをお願いできますか？）
　＊May I speak to ～、please？でもOK.
・Hello, This is Tanaka calling. May I speak to Kathy？
　（もしもし、田中ですが、キャシーさんいますか？）

・This is Tom. I'm calling from Japan.
（トムです、日本から電話しています）
・Is Mary home？
（メリーさんは、戻ってらっしゃいますか？）

・Hello. This is Ms. Takahashi, from XYZ company.
（もしもし、私はXYZ会社の高橋です）
・I'd like to talk to your guest Mr.Tanaka in room 1242.
（そちらの1242号室に泊まっている田中さんと話したいのですが）
・Please put me through to extension 24.
（内線24番をお願いします）
・Can you connect me with the customer center？
（カスタマーセンターにつないでください）

・Please transfer the call to the sales manager.
（営業部長に電話を回してください）
・Put the manager on the phone. Right now.
（部長を出して。今すぐ）

 ＜２＞電話を受けたとき・電話に出たときの英語表現
・Speaking.（私ですが）
　＊本来は、It's she (he) speakingですが、今はSpeaking.だけしか言いません。
・This is she.（私ですが／本人ですが）
　＊自分が男性なら、This is he.（僕ですが）
　＊This is he／she speaking.の省略ですが、今はIt's me.と言うのがポピュラー。ネイティブでは、It's him／her.という人もいます。

・Hello, the Browns'.
（もしもし、ブラウン家ですが）
・Yes, it is. Who's calling, please.
（はい、そうですが、どちら様ですか？）
・Who would you like to speak to？
（誰と話したいのですか？）
・Thank you for calling.
（お電話、ありがとうございます）

・May I use your phone？
（電話を借りてもいいですか？）
・The phone is ringing.
（電話が鳴っている）
・I'll get that.(私が出るわ）
・He hung up on me.
（彼、電話を切っちゃった）
・It's busy.

　　B：Speaking.

　　K：Sure. Just a moment. I'll get her.

（C）
　　T：Hello. Is this ABC company? This is Ms. Takahashi, from XYZ company. May I speak to Mr.Smith in the Account Management Section, please?
